You Can't Put Lipstick on a Bear (Market)

And expect not to get eaten alive.

Take a big bite, Obama.
This one is a little better:This is even better, still. But this is only a modest start. Where's your appetite, Barack? This self-confessed economic illiterate, McCain, deserves to be eaten alive.

Quote of the day:

"I was told if I voted for Gore, the economy would be a mess. It's true. I voted for Gore and the economy is a mess."

I'd LOL, B4F, if it weren't so true. I'd be overjoyed to have Eisenhower back in office.

Vig,

Just thought I should call everyone's attention -- it's unfair to accuse McCain of being a congenital liar. He's also been truthful and proven he can be truthful and we should give him credit for that.

Didn't he say that the economy is not his strong point and conceded that, he still had a lot to learn about it?

Boy, oh boy, the man is clearly out of his depth!

I think McCain is a congenital liar who has disgraced himself by his disgraceful behavior. He continues to delude himself and his supporters, and they are legion, by bragging on the economy and by twisting Obama's policies and positions.

In conclusion, and in case anyone missed my point: McCain is a serial liar. He has sacrificed any honor he may have gained because of his service to the country. He is a tool of the neo-cons and the Bush administration.

Ah Vig... you don't know Palin. She's got a witchunter who'll pray...

Palin linked electoral success to prayer of Kenyan witchhunter

by Hannah Strange, The Times (UK)

The pastor whose prayer Sarah Palin says helped her to become governor of Alaska founded his ministry with a witchhunt against a Kenyan woman who he accused of causing car accidents through demonic spells.

At a speech at the Wasilla Assembly of God on June 8 this year, Mrs Palin described how Thomas Muthee had laid his hands on her when he visited the church as a guest preacher in late 2005, prior to her successful gubernatorial bid.

In video footage of the speech, she is seen saying: "As I was mayor and Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he’s so bold. And he was praying "Lord make a way, Lord make a way."

"And I’m thinking, this guy’s really bold, he doesn’t even know what I’m going to do, he doesn’t know what my plans are. And he’s praying not "oh Lord if it be your will may she become governor," no, he just prayed for it. He said "Lord make a way and let her do this next step. And that’s exactly what happened."

She then adds: "So, again, very very powerful, coming from this church," before the presiding pastor comments on the "prophetic power" of the event.

View video footage of the speech.

Asked what work John McCain did as Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee that helped him understand the financial markets, the candidate's top economic adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, wielded visual evidence of his Blackberryand said:

"He did this: Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

Move over Al Gore!

No, no, no. The quote of the day has to be John McCain saying about the troubled 'challenges' in the financials and housing sectors:

"And I promise you, we will never put America in this position again."

That's more than a tacit admission that his party did it to us the in the first, second, and third instance.

Yeah, why doesn't Barack say, "A man from the Keating 5 has not and is not going to repair today's banking practices."

Yes! People, this is a better week.

This was a great sound bite yesterday from Obama in Nevada yesterday:

John McCain actually said that if he's president he'll take on — and I quote — 'the old boys network in Washington.' I'm not making this up. This is somebody who's been in Congress for 26 years, who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign.

And now he tells us that he's the one who's going to take on the old boys network. The old boys network. In the McCain campaign that's called a staff meeting. Come on.

Rosa Brooks Hey, Hey, U.S.A.! Welcome to the Third World! It's been a quick slide from economic superpower to economic basket case ..... Some might deride this as socialism. But desperate times call for desperate measures.
