Flag Burning?

I propose an amendment to the anti-flag burning amendment:

Stop burning up our military in the un-provoked, unnecessary, largely unilateral invasion and unplanned occupation of Iraq (UULUIUOI), and I'll think about signing on to not burning our flag. As things are, the current administration in Washington has desecrated our flag a gazzillion times more than the four flag burnings on record this year.

Vigilante, I understand the point you make and you've made it forcefully.

However, as you yourself have often said, there is nothing gained if we surrender our freedoms.

Freedom of speech and the freedom of ideas may be the most important freedom of all.

I could easily see this amendment leading to horrific abuses. What do you do to the man wearing a stars and stripes cowboy hat or the girl in a stars and stripes tube top?

Only our representatives and senators in search of votes could come up with an amendment this stupid.

I'm still grateful to the 24 senators with the courage to vote against the amendment.

As it pains a lot to think that there is a man such as Sen. Orrin Hatch, we have to remember that he became what he is because of the backing of huge number of yor fellow citizens. To me, it's not only a question; why is he talking like that, but also - why so many of you like him to talk like that? I guess, what I am trying to say is that instead of concentraiting on messenger, perhaps we would be better off on concentraiting on those who sent him.

I like to add, just in case, that a agree with you Vigil.
