When The Real President Steps Down in 2009

What will he say?
George told me to do it!
Dick did it without telling me!
POSTSCRIPT: I have a couple of disclaimers to register about the appropriateness of the art at the head of this column.
  1. Before getting on the water this morning, I just had to dash off something on the subject of Cheney's now fully- and self-disclosed function and location: he (thinks he) has established himself as a separate branch of American government, unique in its being totally unaccountable to anyone. It was important to do so in order to mark this juncture in our nation's swirling downward cycle toward unconstitutional autocracy. This has been much commented upon in the blogosphere, as well it should be. I just had to get on the record at this point in this current Weimarian swerve in our American republic's history.

  2. Despite the implication in the graphic, I have never subscribed to the theory that Bush is stupid. Far from it: he is only stupid 'like a fox'. I think of Bush, instead, as the head of a cult: a cult of feigned stupidity, a modern know-nothing. But he is ingenious. Together with Cheney, he has contrived to get people to vote against their own schools, against their own medicine, against their own science, against their own class and national interests; against their own planet. Talk about suiciders! Bush at bottom represents the high priest of self-destructive, kool-aid swilling, mass suicides. He has met and surpassed James Jones' ability in getting the masses sacrifice for him. Iraq-Nam is simply the most protracted and most profligate sacrifice running. He has the nation pointlessly squandering even more blood and treasure so that he and Cheney will not have to eat and regurgitate the war and occupation they have served us before they are excused from the table on 20 January 2009.

Love the art vigilante! Where do you find this stuff? It's great! Or do you photoshop some of it yourself?

I've been tied up with the fight to attempt to save Internet Radio (see, The Wizard Radio Blog Posts) but I still stop by often and read your essays and the thought provoking conversations that follow.....

I just haven't had enough time to comment properly.

Keep up the good work!

We need to stop blaming the politicians. They may be the ones running the government, but we're the ones allowing them to run it. We elect them. We allow curruption to go unchallanged. we allow corporations to go unchecked. We stand back, watch them destroy our country one piece at a time and say... NOTHING!

Hopefully the real President will follow the puppet President down the yellow brick road to prison.

Excellent art, Vig. Since Cheney is not part of the executive branch, we can cut his budget out of that branch's funding.

"United we lay" you are absolutely RIGHT!!!! We have become apathetic. For example: I am still trying to post this. I am now on my fourth word verification puzzle. Now that is something we can rise up against. At least it's a start!!! I am not minimizing the issue. I am just trying to make light of the example...I am now on my SIXTH attempt to post given the verification puzzle...

The only thing that could make that photo better would be orange jumpsuits!

The Bush-Cheney explanation for the locus of power of the VPOTUS is astounding. Why is there suddenly such a sparse supply of constitutional lawyers in this administration? The only attorneys left are graduates of Regis Law School? You have to be fucking hammered to listen to their explanations. Only these morons would believe even other morons would believe this batshit.

We lack any proof that Bush is intelligent. I'm not ready to jump on the "not stupid" express.

The Bush-Cheney problem forces Americans to realize the inadequacy of our Constitution in ridding ourselves of this unwholesome duo. There is not a majority in Congress to support impeachment of either man, and there is a shortage of time left to their term of office for that lengthy process. Also, Americans would not want to endure that distasteful process again so soon after the Clinton debacle.

So Bush and Cheney can continue with their "executive decisions" and refuse scrutiny of their actions and papers whenever they choose. Utilizing their unique situation, they are between a pillow and a soft place and, for the time being, can ignore the law of the land. But all good things come to an end, and so do nightmares.

M.D., Bush has been smart enough to fool most of the people most of the time.
